At Chilcotin Holidays Log Cabin Building School, we show you how to build your own log cabin.

Join us at the ranch for an intense one-week course on log cabin building. Here you’ll learn the fundamentals to build your own log cabin onsite, suited to any location of your choice.

If you want to be intimately connected with your cabin, we’ll fulfill your dreams by teaching you how to build it, hand pick each log, and custom fit each log into your personally designed cabin. In just one week, you’ll learn how to:

select trees in the forest
horse log the trees to your site
cut the basic saddle notch
deal with challenging logs i.e. sweeps, tapers, and crooks
roof options, once the walls are up
put in windows and doors
allow for settle up

No previous construction or carpentry background is needed. We teach all the periphery skills needed like power saw safety, maintains and sharpening, horse logging techniques, and axe use.

This course is designed for people with an interest in building a log cabin on private land with suitable trees for log building. Men and women 18 and over are welcome.
